PostSubject: Action flick (4 pm friday the second, open)   Fri Dec 02, 2011 3:52 pm

Still pretty stiff from the hospital Jet takes a break from his usual running about the city and rooftop training, resting a bit by a ledge and enjoying the sun. He's slowly getting back into the swing of things but knows he isn't ready for the fancy stuff just yet. while staring into the sky and laying down on the roof, he overhears a few nameless nobodies talking about an action flick as they exit the theater across the street. "I guess if I can't do the stunts just yet, seeing them would be nice..." He talks himself out of pushing his body further and settles on seeing the show. He takes the fire escape down rather than chancing a jump just yet, the muscles on his chest and abs still stinging. Checking his wallet he makes sure to have triple the fee just in case, one fee for himself, one for being dark, and one for the seat next to him so he won't inconvenience a white person. He could only hope for an African-American ticket sales person for a fair price, but if not he would try to scrape by. With a heavy sigh he approaches the ticket booth ready for the worst, a flat out no with accusations of having stole the money, from them no less.

The upstairs balcony is reserved for ethnic minorities. Tickets are ten cents. The current movie being shown is The Public Enemy.

The theater is very spacious and the warm temperature within is a great respit from the chilly winter outside. The movie is quite entertaining and is a perfect example of Hollywood's glorification the age of the bootlegger and organized crime.

Jet has the place practically to himself. Even though it should be a busy Friday night, it seems that the normally fervent movie goers are staying in. Perhaps it is due to the College Break or maybe just another metric for measuring the tangible effects of the great depression. It was entirely unnecessary to purchase a second seat, as a matter a fact, Jet could sprawl out over many of the seats and watch the movie lying down if he so desired.

Luckily you arrived as the concession stand was popping a fresh batch of buttery and salty popcorn. For another ten cents its possible to enjoy a frosty bottle of coca-cola as well as a giant paper bag of tasty popcorn. The staff on hand appears to be quite small tonight. You only count 3 employees total at the Harwedel this evening.

"As for the Republicans — how can one regard seriously a frightened, greedy, nostalgic huddle of tradesmen and lucky idlers who shut their eyes to history and science, steel their emotions against decent human sympathy, cling to sordid and provincial ideals exalting sheer acquisitiveness and condoning artificial hardship for the non-materially-shrewd, dwell smugly and sentimentally in a distorted dream-cosmos of outmoded phrases and principles and attitudes based on the bygone agricultural-handicraft world, and revel in (consciously or unconsciously) mendacious assumptions (such as the notion that real liberty is synonymous with the single detail of unrestricted economic license or that a rational planning of resource-distribution would contravene some vague and mystical 'American heritage'…) utterly contrary to fact and without the slightest foundation in human experience? Intellectually, the Republican idea deserves the tolerance and respect one gives to the dead."-HPL

Jet springs the extra ten cents after mulling it over. He rarely treated himself and with everything going on lately he felt he deserved it. He decided to wait out in the lobby for a bit to see how many people would show up, if any, before stepping into the theater. He had a few minutes before the previews would start and couldn't stand sitting still with nothing on the screen. "So umm... any good movies coming in for the holidays?" He asked aloud in the employee's general direction hoping one would answer. He wasn't the most social of people and hated striking up conversation with strangers, but the next few minutes would be an eternity if he didn't try something.

A young man answers before taking your ticket. "Ahh yeah, dere's dis new moovee commin' out tommarah. Fraken-steen. Its about a monstah. Not vary chris-massee, but hey yah know it sounds purty good tah me." He says.

The young man appears Italian upon close investigation but is obviously 2nd or 3rd generation by the accent. He doesn't appear to be particularly well off, and he acts entirely unbiased towards you. His uniform is not well kept, and his name tag is only halfway attached. His usher fez hat is crumpled and sitting on the small podium that stands in front of him.

The tag reads 'Jimmy'

"Dis moovee yah seen'n now is GREAT I tells yah. Dere's ac-shawn and advent-shure and purty dames. Plenty of shoot-em up too!" He says while visibly becoming more and more excited.

"Thanks..." looking to his name tag a second "Jimmy, I'll be sure to be back soon." Hearing the credits begin to role he makes his way in for an enjoyable evening before. "I should treat myself more often, but then again, a heroes life is never easy... but it sure is fun... and painful."
